Varicosamin® - 60 tablets - 60 day supply
Approximately 25 million Americans suffer from superficial venous reflux disease. Superficial venous reflux disease is not limited to unsightly varicose veins. One can have superficial venous reflux disease alone, superficial venous reflux disease with varicose veins, or varicose veins without venous reflux disease.
Venous reflux or venous insufficiency develops when the valves that usually keep blood flowing out of your legs become diseased and don't function as one-way valves. The blood 'refluxes' back into the legs. In essence, it is like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) when acid in the stomach goes the wrong way - instead of moving down into the small intestine, it refluxes into the esophagus, causing acid reflux symptoms. Venous reflux is venous blood being pushed back into the legs, instead of it moving towards the heart and lungs for proper oxygenation. This pooling of blood and this pressure force generates varicose veins and all of the problems such as discoloration of the skin with bronzing, pigmentation and eventually skin ulceration - called venous stasis ulceration.
The likelihood of venous stasis ulceration as a lifetime risk in individuals with venous reflux disease is 1 in 24.
It is important to treat venous insufficiency and bioflavonoids have been shown to have significant benefit in keep vein valves halthy ! Dr. Karamanoukian has written a book about bioflavonoids and will send you a free pdf copy when you purchase Varicosamin or any product from www.MyVeinStore.com
Patients with venous insufficiency can wear stockings to help support the failing valves and/or have veins stripping or endovenous ablation procedures such as VenaCure EVLT or VNUS Closure. No matter which treatment option is chosen, compression stockings need to be worn to reduce the likelihood of developing more vein problems in the future. However, a recent study by the Cochrane Collaboration stated that the objective of their investigational study was based on the premise that "conservative therapy of chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) consists largely of compression treatment. However, this often causes discomfort and has been associated with poor compliance. Therefore, oral drug treatment is an attractive option". Their research demonstrated that "there was an improvement in CVI related signs and symptoms with horse chestnut extract compared with placebo. According to their analysis of the published literature, "leg pain was assessed in seven placebo-controlled trials. Six of these trials reported a significant reduction of leg pain in the horse chestnut extract groups compared with the placebo groups, while another study reported a statistically significant improvement compared with baseline". The meta analysis of these trials in effect demonstated that "horse chestnut extract may be as effective as treatment with compression stockings. Adverse events were usually mild and infrequent". The Cochrane Collaboration is a very prestigious research group with a lot of weight being attributed to these types of practice guideline recommendations.
Newer research also shows very promising data touting the benefits of diosmin and hesperidin in treating symptoms of venous insufficiency.

Features and Benefits
Venous reflux or chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) is not limited to unsightly varicose veins. One can have CVI alone or CVI with varicose veins. CVI develops when the valves that usually keep blood flowing out of the legs become diseased and don't function as one-way valves. The venous blood 'refluxes' back into the legs. Varicosamin® was developed by 2 Board Certified Phlebologists (Vein Specialsits) to harness the scientifically proven efficacy of flavonoid phytoceuticals to treat CVI – they are isolated from a specific orange species (Rutacea aurantieae) that grows in Spain and North Africa. They protect venous valves and reduce the symptoms (aching, pain and swelling) and skin complications associated with CVI.

I use Varicosamin® for venous reflux. I previously read about hesperidin and diosmin and bought them separately from a naturopath but this combination has been optimal in relieving the swelling in my leg on a consistent basis. I take it daily and it does not interfere with the blood thinner coumadin that I take for my irregular heart beat. I think this uberceutical product is excellent and less expensive than the other stuff that I bought elsewhere and well worth the price in terms of improving my leg swelling and improving my leg discomfort.
