This is a nice video clip of the interview with Dr. Michael DeBakey regarding the history of development of the dacron graft for repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms. click on the link below: http://www.ptca.org/news/2008/0712_DEBAKEY.html In 1953, Dr. Michael DeBakey invented the Dacron graft to repair aneurysms. In 1964 he performed the first successful coronary artery bypass procedure and in 1966 the first artificial ventricular assist device to support a patient who would have otherwise died from a massive heart attack. At age 99, Dr. DeBakey received the Congressional old Medal in the Capitol Rotunda.
